Promoting Success
The project's successes, stories, and impact will be widely disseminated through social media channels and the production of documentary films, raising awareness and inspiring broader participation [1].
Engage Social Media and Local Press Appropriately:
Strategic engagement with social media influencers and local press will ensure consistent and positive media coverage, further amplifying the project's reach and public perception [1].
Enroll Local Commercial Scale Farmers:
Local commercial farmers will be invited to participate as instructors and client/customers, fostering collaboration between urban and rural agricultural sectors [1]. They will also be contracted to provide staple products, rounding out the complete diet objective for members, and engaging in ways that emulate aspects of federal LFPA (Local Food Purchase Assistance) programs [1].
Food Marketplace Trading of Crops:
An innovative system for coordinating production between garden projects and across civic zones (urban to rural) will be developed. This system will enable predictable product offerings to members and clients, provide pre-sold market opportunities for farmers, and allow members access to the fruits of their labor [1].
Chef Demonstrations and Nutrient Preservation:
Local chefs will conduct demonstrations on various uses of unusual crops and techniques for preserving nutrients, enhancing culinary skills and appreciation for diverse produce [1].
Donations to Benefit Unhoused and Underserved:
A portion of the produce will be dedicated to donations for unhoused and underserved populations, addressing immediate food insecurity within the community [1].
Software Development and Remote Sensing:
The project will create opportunities for developing customized software for production coordination and data gathering, and justify the employment of remote sensing and drone technology for optimizing operations and data collection [1].
Partner with AME Zion Church:
Healthy People Collaborative allowing a more focused outreach into aspects of the community. This will allow the project to develop focused ambassadors to reach into community pockets that would be unavailable to the initiative.
Partner Organizations: This organization will work with Moriah Hemmingway Health Foundation to organize and produce the field work in Charlotte’s West Side, East Side, and North Side Communities to assist with adoption and success of the community gardens and farmers markets.
Blue Star Mothers NC-15 will partner with Moriah Hemmingsway Health Foundation to ensure food delivery to veterans and members of the homeless community.
